我国第一个国家级综合性的生物技术中试研究基地——中国科学院上海生物工程研究中心(原名中国科学院上海生物工程实验基地)于1991年11月28日通过国家验收。本世纪70年代以来,由于DNA重组技术和细胞融合技术的创建,生物技术的研究得到了迅速的发展,并逐步形成新兴的高科技产业,由于它和医药、农业、轻工业的密切关系和它对生产力发展所具有的巨大潜力,受到了当今世界各国政府及科技界、企业界的高度重视。在国外,自1976年美国建立第一家生物工程公司以来,世界上已建立许多类似的企业。
China's first national-level integrated biotechnology pilot research base - Shanghai Institute of Biological Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences (formerly Chinese Academy of Sciences Shanghai Biological Engineering Experimental Base) on November 28, 1991 through the national acceptance. Abroad, since the United States established its first bioengineering company in 1976, many similar enterprises have been established in the world.
