海蜇(Rhopilema eseulentaum)是真水母中可食用的大型水母,营养价值很高,含有丰富的蛋白质、糖类、多种维生素和无机盐类,味道鲜美,很受国内外消费者的青睐。海蜇不仅是食用佳肴,而且还有较高的药用价值,主治气管炎、哮喘、高血压、胃溃疡及甲状腺肿等症。海蜇加工后是我国重要的出口水产品。近20年来,由于捕捞强度的日益增强和海洋环境的恶化,已形不成渔汛。海蜇皮和海蜇头的市场价格猛涨,2002年国际市场海蜇皮8000美元/t。海蜇作为新型海水养殖品种,具有其他鱼、虾、蟹类难以比拟的优势,养殖技术不复杂,疾病少。因此,开发对虾、海蜇混养有着广阔的前景。
