Dioscoreae yam was originally known as Dioscorea zingiberensis. Shennong Bencaojing was listed as a top grade, and the name “Doctors Don’t Record” contained: “Dips of oysters grow in high valleys”. In the Tang Dynasty, because of avoiding the names of Tang Dynasty ancestors, the “preliminary” was “potato”. Due to avoiding the name of Song Yingzong and Zhao Kuang, they changed the name of “Yam” into a mountain and called it “Yam.” Song, “Figure by Materia Medica,” said: yam “nearly Minoru Luo people and kind of”; Ming “Ben Cao Pinhui Essentials” contains: yam “this Henan good”; Li Shizhen said: yam “medication, the wilderness to win”; Qing Jiang Tingxi said that yam “Wuqing is a good place”; Qianlong’s “Waiching House Records” and Daoguang’s “Hechi County Records” all contain: Yam’s “admission to Hanoi is good”.
