传统中国画涵盖了中华民族的文化、审美、思维、美学和哲学,自成一体。至明朝末年,中西艺术交流为中国画另辟新境。清末至民国初年,不少留洋归来的画家带回西方写实主义绘画观念和技法以改革中国画。第一至二次大战期间,大批的中国知识分子迁居海外,不但在居住国传扬中国书画艺术,同时在个人创作实践方面也不断的探索与寻求新意。二战以后,中国画在海外多元文化艺术生态中历经现代化的洗涤而趋向全新的视觉形式。80年代,“水墨画”更成为“中国画”走向国际化的现代名词。本文从艺术形式风格演变来简述发生在海外(以南洋地区的新加坡、马来西亚为主,香港、台湾为辅)的中国水墨画现代化思潮,它如何引领海外华人画家在跨民族、跨文化、跨时代、跨国界的借鉴与融合中,既保存传统中华核心文化,又吸取西方现代主义形式与技法,借鉴本土多元文化特征,创造极为个性化的现代水墨画,充分的体现了水墨画作为国际艺术语言的表现力,被不少的中国艺术理论家认为可以为中国大陆水墨画家的创作方向提供一个很好的参考与借鉴。
Traditional Chinese painting covers the Chinese nation’s culture, aesthetics, thinking, aesthetics and philosophy, self-contained. By the end of the Ming dynasty, the exchange of Chinese and Western art opened a new frontier for Chinese painting. From the end of the Qing Dynasty to the early Republican China, many returned artists brought back the ideas and techniques of Western realist painting in order to reform Chinese painting. During World War I, a large number of Chinese intellectuals relocated overseas. They not only spread the art of Chinese calligraphy and painting in their country of residence, but also continuously explored and sought new ideas in the practice of individual creation. After World War II, Chinese painting in the overseas multicultural art ecosystem after modern washing and toward a new visual form. In the 1980s, “Ink and Wash Painting ” became the modern term for “Chinese Painting ” towards internationalization. This essay, based on the evolution of the art form, gives a brief account of the modernization of Chinese ink painting that took place overseas (Singapore, Malaysia in Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan, supplemented by Southeast Asia), and how it leads overseas Chinese artists in intercultural, cross- , Cross-border reference and integration, not only preserves the traditional core culture of China, but also draws on Western modernist forms and techniques, drawing on local multicultural characteristics and creating highly personalized modern ink and wash paintings, fully embodies the performance of ink and wash paintings as the international artistic language Many Chinese art theorists think it can provide a good reference for the creative direction of Chinese ink painters.
