My name is Xie Chuan Zhou, the youngest member of the 3,000 Nanqiao overseas workers. In the spring of 1939, people were bustling in the Tambuna Street in Malaya. Suddenly, a fellow countryman jumped onto the high street of the street and gave an impassioned speech. He called on overseas Chinese youth to join the Mechanics and Service Corps to return to fight against Japan. After listening to the speech, I went up and asked, “Brother, how much money will you pay for the mechanic?” The man replied, “As long as you volunteer, all the expenses will be handled by the relief agency.” I immediately asked him to help out Name. A few days later, I really received the admission notice, very happy. But I did not dare to voice my fear that my uncle would obstruct me to return to China.
