棕榈科椰子属树木,通常只有一种,即Cocos nucifera,虽有变型或变种,总以此为拉丁学名,中名、拉丁名实相符,不会混乱。然而,台湾的园林植物界人士不知为何,却习惯把多种并非椰子的树种称为“椰子”。如此一来,难免在使用上引起混淆,加之台湾所称的各种椰子,还包括多个属的树木。为把它们分清,现据所知简列如下: 1.假槟榔Archontophoenix alaxandrae(Wendl.)Burr.台湾称亚历山大椰子。广东中山俗称桄榔,早有引种。假槟榔属。
