宜州是壮族歌仙刘三姐的故乡,是一座具有2100多年历史的文化古城。其境内迷人的山水风光,美丽动人的民间传说,浓郁的民族风情和悠久的历史文化古迹构成了极具特色的风情旅游。近年来,宜州以创建“文明城市”、“优秀旅游城市”活动为契机,致力于打造“刘三姐”文化品牌。如今,宜州“刘三姐”故乡的特色旅游越来越受到国内外游客的青睐。2003年,在受“非典”严重影响的情况下,仍接待海外游客1200人次、国内游客38．4万人次,旅游收入达2780万元。截至2004年10月,共接待游客41．7万人,旅游收入达3727万元。
