Thiaille (or Vitamin B_1) consists of a sulfur-containing thiazole ring and an amino-containing pyrimidine ring and is a low-molecular compound necessary for biological growth and metabolism. The normal person inhales approximately 0.5 to 1.5 mg per day and is excreted from the urine to 50 to 250 μg. Detection of urinary thiamine can not only study its metabolism in the body, but also contribute to the investigation of human nutritional status and the diagnosis of thiamine deficiency. Detection methods such as column chromatography, paper chromatography, electrophoresis on paper, and high-performance liquid chromatography require fluorescence spectrophotometry.
