Objective To understand the mental health of adult medical students and its influencing factors. Methods A total of 928 adult medical students were drawn by stratified cluster random sampling method and investigated by SCL-90, EPQ and self-made general questionnaires. Results The prevalence of middle school students’ psychological problems in adult education was 5.39%. The compulsiveness and psychosis were significantly higher than those in the national norm (P <0.05). There was a significant positive correlation between neuroticism and various factors of SCL-90. There was a significant positive correlation between psychoticism and depression, anxiety, hostility, paranoia and psychosis (r> 0.3, P <0.05). The linear stepwise regression analysis of SCL-90 score and EPQ showed that different personality traits had an impact on mental health, of which neuroticism had the most significant impact on mental health. Conclusion Adult education medical students have certain mental health problems and should conduct targeted mental health education according to their own characteristics.
