半导体拉曼放大器可用于太赫带宽的频率选择、太比特容量的波分复用(WDM)和直接太比特光通信系统。研制了截面为微米尺寸的GaP-AlGaP拉曼波导。通过改进制作工艺,减小了波导的残余光损耗,制成10 mm长的低耗波导,其连续波拉曼增益达3.7 dB。此外,演示了80 ps脉冲抽运的时间门控放大,得到20 dB的增益。这些性能很适用于太赫带宽选频和波分复用光通信系统。
Semiconductors Raman amplifiers can be used for frequency selection of terahertz bandwidths, wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) for terabit-capable and direct terabit optical communication systems. A GaP-AlGaP Raman waveguide with a micrometer size was developed. By improving the fabrication process and reducing the residual optical loss of the waveguide, a 10 mm long low-power waveguide is achieved with a continuous-wave Raman gain of 3.7 dB. In addition, a time-gated amplification of 80 ps pulses was demonstrated, giving a gain of 20 dB. These properties are well suited for terahertz bandwidth frequency-selective and wavelength division multiplexed optical communication systems.
