The effect of the thermal effect on the mode-locking in the Kerr lens-locked laser cavity is discussed. The numerical solution is given to show the variation of the spot radius with the normalized power when the thermal effect exists. The relative sensitivity of the spot radius to the normalized pulse power in the presence of thermal effect is also given. The working mechanism and role of Kerr effect and thermal effect in self-mode-locked lasers are discussed. The thermal insensitive conditions under Kerr lens clamping mode are given
