A great deal of research work about acupuncture in terms of mod medicine has been done in China. The initial investigation about the mechanism of the clinical effect of acupuncture in the fifties, the extensive clinical practice with acupuncture in the mid-sixties, and the large scale of experimental studies on animal models about acupuncture in the seventies, especially the nineties, which have all provided many new progresses.
