Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a naturally occurring virus that can cause a variety of benign and malignant lesions of human skin and mucous membranes. It is known that cervical cancer is closely related to HPV infection. Studies have shown that its pathogenicity often requires the cooperation of other factors to play a role. At present, the research on the synergy between HPV infection and estrogen and progesterone has received extensive attention. The research results at home and abroad show that estrogen and progesterone can increase the susceptibility of tissues to HPV, and when stimulated by high concentrations of estrogen and progesterone, the carcass will show abnormal growth and have a tendency of canceration. Estrogen, progesterone and HPV infection may have a synergistic effect in the occurrence of cervical cancer.
