19th Century British Art Critic John Ruskin (1819-1900) is the first person in modern industrial development to advocate a combination of art and manufacturing. His artistic thought of design is the source of the development of western modern design art, and his decorative art aesthetics is the core of his design art thought. Roskin’s aesthetics of decorative art is mainly manifested in that all the greatest arts in the world are all decorative arts; in the decorative arts, the moral cultivation of artists and artisans is more important than their artistic accomplishment; and the artist should correctly handle the material, location and function The relationship between the three. Roskin’s aesthetics of ornamentation also argues that the art of decoration should be full of change and that artists should not blindly pursue perfection; the color should give way to the shape when choosing between the beauty of color and the beauty of form; and secondly, that Ruskin opposes the use of certain Imitation products.
