The “Ideal Continent” in P.192 in the Geography Book of the High School is drawn with reference to the contour features of each continent and is similar to Schiller’s “ideal climate map”. The so-called “ideal continent” has such assumptions: First, the surface of the mainland is flat, there is no plateau, mountains and basins; second, the coastline is straight and there are no islands, peninsulas and bays. Therefore, in principle, “Ideal continent” does not have the influence of non-zonal factors, nor does it have the constraints of vertical zonality. It only reflects the distribution law of latitude zonality and longitude zonality, mainly from the location of latitude and the location of land and sea. Consider the hydrothermal conditions and the type of vegetation soil to determine the name of the natural zone of horizontal zonality. From the “Ideal Continent,” we can see that in the low-latitude and high-latitude regions, due to the difference between the North and South of heat and moisture, the natural belt extends roughly in the direction of the weft.
