The addition of proper amount of Ce in Fe3Al can significantly improve the room temperature strength and plasticity of the alloy. The analysis shows that the addition of Ce alters the composition of the oxide layer on the surface of the alloy, restrain or delay the reaction of Al with the ambient water vapor, A number of dispersed Ce-rich phases were formed.
