The United States has been closely following the development of China’s nuclear weapons program. Especially after China’s first nuclear test in 1964, the United States has stepped up its intelligence on the process and deployment of China’s nuclear weapons research and development and has also taken a step toward the development of China’s nuclear strategy and the future of nuclear weapons Analysis and prediction. However, until 1972, when the Sino-U.S. Relations were thawed, there was still a lot of discrepancies between the United States assessment of China’s nuclear program and China’s actual development and deployment because of China’s strict secrecy and the limited means of reconnaissance. However, these reports still provide the U.S. policymakers with a channel for understanding the development of China’s advanced military technology. They also indirectly reflect the current Sino-U.S. Relations and the impact of nuclear weapons on the interaction between China and the United States, providing a reference point for U.S. policy toward China.
