Al-Si系合金熔炼时,加入不同元素或其盐类,保持一定时间后才达到变质的最佳效果。这一保持时间,一般称为变质处理中的“潜伏期”。生产中,由于潜伏期的存在,对铝液质量、燃料或电能消耗、精炼剂损耗、熔化设备的生产率等,影响极大。这些具有潜伏期的变质元素(绝大部分为长效变质剂),因此应用受到阻碍。另外,潜伏期的机理和变质机理密切相关。无疑弄清潜伏期机理,对于进一步探讨变质机理十分重要。
