The cognition of “China” in American-Chinese English novels presents different situations at certain historical periods and individual levels with the change of Sino-American relations, the change of Chinese status and the personal experience of writers. However, A strong, unified and world-renowned China stands behind Chinese people but is a common expression of Chinese writers in different texts in different periods. In the 1980s and 1990s, “China” in Chinese-English novels showed more as a kind of writing resource and became a unique imagination space for Chinese-American writers from non-Chinese writers. The Chinese image of Chinese writing helps us to understand the various changes that overseas Chinese have made in China’s identity and give us a mirror image of ourselves
