在过去的一年中 ,SMPTE的一个新的技术委员会—DC2 8数字电影技术委员会相当活跃 ,本文讨论了其工作和进展。大多数人认为数字电影是未来消费者在影院的主要娱乐方式。许多报刊描绘了数字电影向现实逼进的情景。在美国及世界其它一些地方已有数十座数字影院在营业 ,但这些影院实际仅部分地实现了数字放映。 DC2 8的宗旨是实现电影发行放映的全面数字化 ,完全取代现今的 3 5mm影片发行放映系统。这个系统须明确地进行定义 ,全新地进行设计 ,在实践中进行检验 ,制定出全面的标准。应该说 ,这些工作超越任何单个组织包括 SMPTE的工作范围 ,但 SMPTE的标准化工作具有本质的重要性 ,因此现在正在全力以赴地抓紧进行。
In the past year, a new technical committee of SMPTE, the DC2 8 Digital Cinema Technical Committee, has been quite active. This article discusses its work and progress. Most people think digital cinema is the main way of entertainment for future consumers in theaters. Many newspapers portray the digital movie’s push into the real world. Dozens of digital cinemas are in operation in the United States and elsewhere in the world, but these cinemas have in fact only partially digitalized. The purpose of DC2 8 is to realize full digitization of film distribution screening, completely replacing the current 3 5mm film distribution system. The system must be clearly defined, completely new in design, tested in practice, and developed comprehensive standards. It should be said that these efforts go beyond the scope of work of any single organization, including SMPTE, but the standardization of SMPTE is of fundamental importance and so it is now going all out.
