1956年10月23日,匈牙利首都布达佩斯爆发了大规模的群众游行示威。示威者要求政府进行民主改革,使人们享有更多的权利。面对匈牙利的复杂局势,莫斯科一方面寄希望于匈牙利政府依靠自身的力量稳定国内局势:另一方面,又不希望匈牙利在改革的道路上走的太远,以免在东欧引起连锁反应。
On October 23, 1956, massive mass demonstrations broke out in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. Demonstrators demanded that the government carry out democratic reforms so that people will enjoy more rights. In the face of the complicated situation in Hungary, Moscow on the one hand hopes that the Hungarian government will rely on its own strength to stabilize the domestic situation: on the other hand, Hungary does not want to go too far in the reform so as not to cause a chain reaction in Eastern Europe.
