Objective To understand the impact of welding manganese workers on health workers. Methods A total of 621 welders (contact group) and 576 non-manganese workers (control group) were randomly selected from 18 manganese units in Changping District of Beijing for physical examination. Results 621 manganese workers did not detect the target disease. The detection rate of non-target disease in contact group increased with age. The detection rate of neurasthenic syndrome, hypertension and serum ALT activity had significant difference (P <0.05), the number of white blood cell count increased or decreased, Urinary protein positive, urine positive, urine occult blood positive, ECG abnormality detection rate difference was not statistically significant. Conclusion Exposure to low concentrations of manganese poses a minor hazard to the occupational health of welders.
