The Law on Earthquake Disaster Prevention and Disaster Reduction started a comprehensive revision on October 23, 2008 at the Fifth Session of the Eleventh National People's Congress Standing Committee. This amendment will raise the experience of earthquake relief work in Wenchuan, Sichuan Province to law. The current law on earthquake disaster prevention and reduction is December 1997
