The Ministry of Health recently released the Catalog of Common Names for Common Prescriptions of Common Prescribed Drugs to facilitate the rational use of medicines in clinical practice in line with the Prescription Management Measures that came into effect on May 1, 2007, and regulate the prescriptions of medical institutions and medical personnel. The “catalog” is mainly based on the “Chinese generic drug name”, “INN” compiled by the Pharmacopoeia Committee of the Ministry of Health and the reference to “New Pharmacology (15th Edition)” and the national Dozens of Grade A hospitals in the first set of prescriptions.
