噬菌体是地球上最简单的生命形式,是细菌的天然杀手,在自然界的各种生境中广泛存在且数量巨大。当前细菌耐抗生素现象日益加剧,对人类健康的威胁日趋严峻,这使得科学界重新关注噬菌体。但是人们感兴趣更多的是噬菌体对于细菌感染的治疗作用,而很少考虑噬菌体的另一面,即它可以武装细菌,引进毒力基因和耐药基因,使细菌变得更加致命和耐药。作者分析了噬菌体的双重作用,即作为生物恐怖剂或其研发工具,以及噬菌体用于生物恐怖事件应对处置的多功能手段等方面的研究进展。
Bacteriophage is the simplest form of life on earth and is the natural killer of bacteria. It is widespread and huge in all kinds of habitats in nature. The current phenomenon of bacteria resistant to antibiotics growing, the threat to human health increasingly serious, which makes the scientific community to focus on bacteriophage. But people are more interested in the therapeutic effect of bacteriophages on bacterial infections, and seldom consider the other side of bacteriophages, that is, they can arm bacteria and introduce virulence genes and drug resistance genes, making bacteria more lethal and resistant. The authors analyzed the dual role of bacteriophages, that is, as a bioterror agent or its research and development tools, as well as phage for bioterrorism coping with multi-functional means of research progress.
