Traditional Beijing
Peking Opera is the most famous of all Chineseopera and certainly the quintessential traditionalChinese culture. It combines music, vocal per-formance, mime, dance and acrobatics. Chineseopera features four main types of performers:Sheng, Dan, ling and Chou. The costumes, themake-up and the gestures of these performersconvey a special meaning, which should allownon-Chinese speakers to understand the plot.Stories are usually based on Chinese legends.Acrobatic shows are a must see for young andold alike. China has many world class acrobatictroupes who offer breathtaking performances,including group bicycling, contortionists, porce-lain juggling and martial arts.
