胡适对自己的学术定位是最感兴趣于史学。他晚年曾说:“有时我自称为历史家;有时又称为思想史家。但我从未自称我是哲学家,或其它各行的什么专家。”~①然而,相对于研究成果丰硕的“胡适学”来说,学术界对作为史学家的胡适的思想研究则可以说是相当薄弱的环节了,不仅论文不多,专门的论著也很少;而在这有限的论著中,有关其方法论的研究又占了大部分。~②因此,本文结合学术界已有的相关研究成果,拟从胡适的历史观、史学认识论和价值论、史学方法论和史料观等方面,对胡适的史学思想作一个全面的审视和评判。
Hu Shi is most interested in history in his academic orientation. In his later years he said: “Sometimes I call myself a historian; sometimes a historian of ideas, but I never call myself a philosopher or any expert in every field.” " For Hu Shih-ology, the study of Hu Shih’s ideology as a historian can be said to be a rather weak link in the academic world. Not only do not many papers are available, but there are only a few monographs devoted to this subject. In this limited work, The research on its methodology again accounts for the majority. Therefore, this article intends to make a comprehensive review and assessment of Hu Shih’s historical thought from the aspects of Hu Shih’s conception of history, epistemology of history and axiology, historical methodology and historical materialism.
