As early as 1898, such pathogenic microorganisms were isolated from a cow’s infectious pleuropneumonia that is prevalent in Europe. For a long time, it has also isolated similar microorganisms from various animal species and from natural sewage and soil. Although it was reported at this time that the morphology and culture-shape traits of these kinds of microorganisms were different from those of ordinary bacteria, they were not given a classification name because of their limited research. By 1956 the United States Edward and Denmark Freundt proposed the establishment of such a single-cell microorganisms called genus Mycoplasma genus, and the corresponding establishment of subjects, orders, on the schizonts.
