音樂文獻學並非純理論學科而是應用學科,應用型導向的學科定位決定了音樂文獻學學科體系的構建必須注重其實用性、工具性和可操作性。中國傳統樂學有其獨特的記録、描述、理解音樂之方法與手段,故中國古代音樂文獻與西方音樂文獻在内容、形式、學術背景等方面,均有諸多不同之處,可依據西方音樂文獻的一般分類原則,並結合其自身特點,將其重新分類百科性樂學類書(音樂辭書)、音樂史著、音樂理論專著、樂譜等四大類,並由此探尋其内在結構體系與史料價值。
Musical philology is not a purely theoretical discipline but an applied discipline. Application-oriented discipline determines that the construction of a musical philology subject system must pay attention to its practicality, instrumentality and operability. Chinese traditional music has its unique record, description and understanding of music methods and means. Therefore, there are many differences between Chinese ancient music literature and western music literature in terms of content, form and academic background. According to Western music literature The general principle of classification, combined with its own characteristics, reclassified four categories of encyclopedic music books (music dictionaries), music history books, music theory monographs, music scores and so on, and explored its internal structural system and historical value.
