沪杭甬铁路是清末修建的一条贯通江南经济重镇间的铁路,它的诞生与英帝国主义的经济侵略意图息息相关。在江浙人民的不懈斗争之下,沪杭甬铁路的修建、管理及营运事业均摆脱了英帝国主义的控制,并成为全国商办铁路的典范。民国创立不久,这条倾注了江浙人民心血的模范铁路,却无奈遭到国有化之命运。
The Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo Railway was a railway constructed between Qing dynasty and the economic center of the south of Yangtze River. Its birth was closely related to the intent of the British imperialists in economic aggression. Under the untiring struggles of the people of Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces, the construction, management and operation of the Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo Railway all got rid of the control of the British imperialists and became the model for the nationwide commercial operation of the railway. Shortly after the founding of the Republic of China, this model railroad, devoted to the painstaking efforts of the people of Jiangsu and Zhejiang Province, was reluctantly nationalized.
