After China’s accession to the WTO, China’s economy will face increasingly fierce international competition. Whether we can seize this historical opportunity and rapidly enhance our strength in the process of “dancing with wolves” will ultimately remain invincible depends largely on our personnel training. As institutions of higher learning in a continuous process of opening up, we should never forget that we shoulder the historic responsibility of training outstanding personnel for the country’s economic construction and social development. So, what kind of talents should colleges and universities cultivate for the country and society and how to cultivate such talents? This is undoubtedly the question that every manager of every university should seriously think about. To this end, on the occasion of celebrating the 80th anniversary of the founding of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, our school specially hosted the presidents and expert forums of Chinese and foreign universities on the theme of “higher education in opening up.” More than 40 principals and experts from the United States, Britain, New Zealand and other universities in China participated in the forum. At the Forum Conference, all university presidents and experts freely expressed their opinions about the theme of “higher education in open space”. Selected here is part of the principal, experts submitted papers or speech abstracts.
