泉州—汕头地震带是华南沿海的强震带。按已释放的地震能量统计,甚至超过海峡东侧的台湾西部地震带而远大于该带以西的各地震构造带。泉汕带作为统一地震构造带的时期可能开始于中更新世,晚更新世—全新世活动加强并持续至现今。泉汕带发生强震的原因,除自身的地质构造特征外,还明显地受菲律宾板块活动的影响。它和台湾东、西地震带共同组成的“地震屏蔽区”,屏蔽了广大的华南内陆地区。
Quanzhou - Shantou seismic belt is a strong earthquake belt along the coast of South China. According to the released seismic energy statistics, even more than the western part of Taiwan Strait on the east side of the Strait, far greater than the seismotectonic zones to the west of the belt. The period of the Quan-Shan fault zone as a unified seismic tectonic belt may begin in the mid-Pleistocene, with the late Pleistocene-Holocene activity strengthening and continuing to the present day. The causes of strong earthquakes in the Quan-Shan area are obviously affected by the activities of the Philippines Plate in addition to their geological structural features. It and Taiwan East and West seismic belt composed of “Earthquake Shield”, shielding the vast southern China inland areas.
