目前用光纤进行数据传输有许多优点,在有源数据网中使用更有重要意义,采用光纤在许多情况下不仅效率较高,而且费用较便宜。一个符合广播网标准的有源局部网络,首次在斯图加特大学利用光传输技术实现。该大学各系的VAX计算机通过光学局部网络系统连成网,使全部计算机之间都能进行数据交换。
At present, fiber optic data transmission has many advantages. It is more important to use it in active data networks. In many cases, the use of optical fiber is not only more efficient but also cheaper. An active local network compliant with the broadcast network standard was first implemented at the University of Stuttgart using optical transmission technology. VAX computers of various departments of the university are connected to each other through an optical local network system so that data can be exchanged between all the computers.
