Introduction The uptake of phosphorus in polyphosphates, metaphosphates, fluorophosphates, and phosphites is routinely determined by the on paper chromatography. After removing interfering cations or complexing them, the sample is subjected to a chromatographic separation. Various forms of phosphorus are leached from the paper, hydrolyzed to orthophosphates, and measured by molybdenum blue colorimetric. Different phosphates Use different solvents and handling techniques. Removal of water from phosphoric acid causes the phosphate ion to polymerize or condense into a chain compound.
