AT&T11月初宣布与中国电信签订合同,从今年底至未来几年内向中国电信提供目前在中国速率最快的Internet专线入网服务。这一合同的签署将能大大提高中国Internet骨干网络ChinaNet的带宽,因而促进中国Internet入网能力。根据合同,AT&T将向中国电信提供中国第一条每秒传输速率达45兆比特的T45专线。将ChinaNet通过在上海的国际出口与世界各地联结起来。目前,ChinaNet使用每秒传输2兆比特的E1专线进行国际传输,45兆专线服务将能使ChinaNet的带宽提高20多倍,在中国的用户将可以以更快的速度使用Internet。中国电信是目前国内最大的Internet服务提供者,为政府机构、商业用户和个人提供Internet入网服务。中国电信预测Internet在中国的用户在2000年时将达到三、四百万。“AT&T与中国电信合作提供T45专线服务,它将使ChinaNet用户更快、更稳定地接入Internet。在中国,Internet在商业、教育和娱乐方面的应用将会大幅度增长。”AT&T中国公司总裁高伯乐表示。 T45专线服务项目将通过太平洋光缆传输,
AT & T announced in early November with China’s radio subscription agreement, from the end of this year to the next few years to provide the current China Telecom in China’s fastest Internet private line service. The signing of this contract will greatly enhance the bandwidth of ChinaNet, China’s Internet backbone network, thereby promoting China’s Internet access capability. Under the contract, AT & T will provide China Telecom with the first T45 dedicated line with a transmission rate of 45 megabits per second in China.
