在苏联发现,1963年公布资料。物理性质呈长形板状晶体,可以组成玫瑰花状集合体,也可以呈结晶良好的单个晶体, 大的晶体可达3×3mm。颜色变化很大,由琥珀黄到浅黄色,淡绿色,有时为暗绿色(由于矿物中有一些四价铀)。珍珠光泽到玻璃光泽。硬度接近于3。比重3.72—3.80,合成矿物比重为3.96—4.03。在紫外光照射下不发荧光。光学性质明显的一轴晶负光性。经常因为失去部分水而影响折光率,含水较多的(水的数量未测定)矿物,其折光率为No=1.535,Ne=1.515;最常见为No=1.570—1.578,Ne=1.550—1.555和No=1.600—1.602,Ne=1.578—1.580,合成物的折光率为No=1.605,Ne=1.578—1.580。化学性质磷类砷铀矿及其合成物的化学分析数据列于表59。
