In the 1950s, bariatric surgery began to be used to treat obesity. Initial clinical observations showed that obese patients not only experienced a significant loss of body weight after surgery, but their concurrent non-insulin-dependent diabetes was unexpectedly cured or ameliorated. However, this phenomenon did not cause any concern. By 1998, Pories et al at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University reported the results of follow-up studies after bariatric surgery in the Annals of Surgery magazine, which attracted great academic attention. The current study tends to postoperative changes in gastrointestinal hormone secretion, postoperative digestive function is divided into two areas: (1) food diversion area: this period is no longer upper gastrointestinal tract
