黄泥土是江淮丘陵地区占耕地面积最大、瘠薄易旱的低产土。这个地区的农民有在黄泥土上实行山芋間作花生,以达到用地与养地相結合、提高經济收益的經驗。我們从1960年秋开始,在調查总結农民这一經驗的基础上,进一步研究并証实了这一措施的有效性。从土壤水份和养料来看,据測定,单作山芋的土壤含水量为12.2—14.0%,山芋間作花生的土壤含水量则提高到14.0—18.6%,至于提高土壤含水量的原因,主要是因为花生的复盖,使土温比单作山芋的低摄氏一至三度,减少了土壤水分的蒸发。从氮素养料来看,由于花生的固氮作用,增加了土壤的氨态氮含量,間作地的氨态氮是4.0ppm,单作地的是3.0ppm。同时,由于这种土壤有丰富的鉀,磷、鈣也不少,間作花生后,能大大提高磷、鉀、鈣等矿物质养料的利
