“向来现代女小说家所写的小说都是抒情的,显示自己是一个女性,描写的范围限于自己所生活的小圈子;但罗洪却是写实的,我们如果不看作者的名字,几乎不能知道作者是一个女性,描写的范围广阔,很多出乎她自己小圈子以外。……以前女小说家都只能说是诗人,罗洪女士才是真正的小说家。” ——赵景深:《文坛忆旧》在上海一个普通的里弄里,我找到了罗洪,当时她正在居民委员会开会。后来我才知道,这位曾经有过较大影响的女作家,于一九七一年被“四人帮”勒令退休,居民委员会召集的会议,成了她唯一的政治生活。她认为,在那里可以接触各种各样的人,了解各种各样的事,这对一个作家来说是有意义的。
