面向现实而为人生的写作主张,是杨逵创作的自觉追求,也是理解他文学品格的必要前提.统观日据时期杨逵的小说创作,反抗殖民统治与反对阶级压迫的思想并存,同时又在这之上有所升华超越,强有力地显示出这一时期台湾新文学反抗与斗争的立身主题,也彰显着这位台湾左翼文学先锋的手笔与气魄.
