Unthank et al. Have pointed out that austenitic stainless steels containing Cr form a large amount of CrN along grain boundaries when nitrided at 600-800 ° C and may cause intergranular cracking leading to peeling of the nitride layer.Kindlimann and Ansell argue that, Nitriding on a nitrided surface increases the thickness of a layer of Fe or Ni-Fe to produce a “white layer” that may peel off as it cools. When discussing the effect of nitriding temperature on brittleness of nitrided layer of 18-8 steel, Takase Takau said that it is easy for nitrided layer to peel off at low temperature. This work by nitriding before the sample for the appropriate pre-heat treatment to find a solution to the nitride layer spalling method and proved the nitride layer spalling reasons.
