One new coumarin from celery (Apium graveolens) seeds was named celerin, and two other known coumarin isoth-enol, apigranin and p-hydroxycinnamic acid were isolated. METHODS: Dried celery seeds were continuously extracted with petroleum ether, benzene and ether. The petroleum ether fractions were concentrated and chromatographed on silica gel with gradient elution of petroleum ether - benzene. The first portion of the coumarin was eluted with 6 coumarins followed by preparative Thin layer chromatography (silica gel, acetone-benzene 1: 4). The portion eluted from the benzene is in dilute methanol
