Swiss Re’s magazine Sigma magazine published the 1992 World Premium Statistics on March 3, 1994. According to statistics, the world’s premium income for the year amounted to 1.466 trillion U.S. dollars, excluding inflation, an increase of 3.7% over the previous year and a year-on-year growth rate of only 1.6%. The growth rate in 1992 should be attributed to the greater growth of premium income in the United States and Japan. The statistics included 66 countries and regions with premiums above 100 million U.S. dollars, up from 6 in the previous year. In some countries and regions such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago and Hong Kong, the premium income apparently exceeded 100 million U.S. dollars but was not included in the statistics due to lack of accurate statistical data. The first countries included in this table are Russia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia
