一、爱字棉品种1、爱字棉SJ—5 这个品种在1977年就已推广,原来只在圣华金河谷种植。现各地经过几年试验,在黄萎病棉田它的产量比SJ—2和SJ—4分别高17%及3.8%;在明显缺钾及黄萎病情为中等及严重的情况下分别高26.6%及6.8%。在四年51次的试验中,平均皮棉产量为每英亩1143磅(折合亩产173斤)。纤维2.5%夸距长度为1.13英寸(28.7毫米),气流测定细度值为3.85,强度指数为T_12.38,整齐度指数为46,衣分率为32.5%。这个品种除具有高度耐黄萎、耐缺钾症的优点外,还具有较高的适于榨油的种子品质,因棉毒素含量低,短绒少,而含油量则较高。成熟期一般与SJ—2相同,但在多数情况下比后者稍早熟。1978年因种子数量少,估计只能种十万英亩,1979年可完全代替SJ—4。
