Hemingway is a world famous American novelist. Scholars both at home and abroad have conducted a comprehensive and meticulous study of his masterpiece The Old Man and the Sea. However, previous studies focused more on the image of the tough guy, on the tragedy of ancient Greece and on the principle of iceberg. In recent years, the research on Hemingway has started to develop from an ecological perspective. Hemingway’s work explores the relationship between the author and nature. In “The Old Man and the Sea,” the author sincerely praised nature and explored the relationship between man and nature, while reflecting on the traditional anthropocentrism. In this work, Hemingway focuses on the equal relationship between man and other species in nature, not on their control.
