Objective To investigate the possible significance of type Ⅰ interferon receptor (IFNAR) in the pathogenesis of condyloma acuminatum (CA). Methods The expression of type I interferon receptor subtypes IF-NAR1 and IFNAR2 in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and lesions in CA patients were detected by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) Control comparison. Results The expression of IFNAR1 and IFNAR2 in lesions of CA patients was significantly higher than that in normal preputial tissues (P <0.001), while there was no significant difference in the expression of PBMC between the two groups > 0.05). There was a significant positive correlation between IFNAR1 and IFNAR2 expression in PBMC or CA lesions (r = 0.795,0.870, P <0.001). Conclusion The type Ⅰ interferon receptor is highly compensated and expressed in CA lesions and is an important regulator involved in the prevention of HPV infection.
