Objective To investigate the microsatellite instability in bladder cancer and its possible clinical significance. Methods The microsatellite instability in suspicious bladder cancer tissues was detected by PCR-PAGE and silver staining. The relationship between microsatellite instability and tumor stage, grade and recurrence was analyzed. Results The positive rate of microsatellite instability in bladder cancer was 88.10% (37/42), and the positive rate in invasive tumors was relatively high, but there was no statistical significance (P> 0.05) The positive rate (100%) was significantly higher than that of the initial (77.2%) (P <0.05). Conclusion Microsatellite instability detection can be used as a sensitive and specific biomarker for bladder cancer and its positive rate is high in recurrent tumors.
