青年马尔库什在研究中提出过这样的问题,卢卡奇两个时期是相互延续,还是彼此断裂?这个问题被提出来了,但是并没有得到最终的解答。现在我以同样的问题向马尔库什提出来。他自己从来没有这样提出过。他告诉我,在莫斯科和布达佩斯,他首先对现代科学哲学、语言哲学以及认识论感兴趣,还没有对文化更不要说对艺术理论感兴趣。只是到了澳大利亚,他才开始涉猎这些问题,然而那时因他所感兴趣的东西使他在澳大利亚大学里饱受折磨,因为没有人去探索文化。虽然他延续着以前,但是其著作显示出断裂,或者说至少显现出处所的变化,世界观的改变或者危机性。
Young Marcuse raised the question in his study, whether the two periods of Lukacs renewed each other or whether they broke each other? The question was raised but no final answer was given. Now I raised Marcus with the same question. He himself never suggested it this way. He told me that in Moscow and Budapest, he first became interested in modern philosophy of science, philosophy of language and epistemology, and he was not yet interested in culture, let alone in artistic theory. It was only in Australia that he began to study these problems, but at the time he was subjected to torture at Australian universities because of what he was interested in, since no one was ever exploring culture. Although he continued the past, his writings showed a breakdown, or at least showed a change of place, a change of worldview or a crisis.
