The chemokine CXCL12 and its receptor CXCR4 play an important role in the growth, invasion, metastasis and the formation of neovascularization in gastric cancer. Statistical analysis showed that the positive rate of CXCR4 expression was related to peritoneal metastasis of gastric cancer (P <0.001). CXCL12 / CXCR4 could regulate the proliferation of various tumor cells including breast cancer, prostate cancer, melanoma and gastrointestinal cancer; Overexpression can increase tumor blood vessels and lymphangiogenesis, promote tumor growth and invasion and metastasis; also chemotactic vascular endothelial cell aggregation, induced microvascular formation and capillary occurrence. These findings suggest that CXCL12 and CXCR4 receptors are closely related to the occurrence, development and migration of gastric cancer. Therefore, in-depth study of CXCL12 / CXCR4 will hopefully make it a new target of gastric cancer targeted therapy.
