The Himalayas, the world’s purpose, stand in the southern part of the Tibetan Plateau in our country. It has long aroused people’s attention for its formation, evolution and geological structure. In the past ten years or so, plate tectonics theory prevailed. Many people also tried to use this view to study many geological problems in the Himalayas and to recognize and explain some existing geological phenomena. From 1974 to 1975, the author participated in the scientific investigation of the Tibetan Plateau and conducted paleomagnetic studies on the red beds of the Linzhou Group of the Lower Cretaceous in the Linzhou area.
